Let The Light In Therapy

Hello! I'm Anna.

With over twenty years in the professional mental health arena, I am skilled with many modalities. I often incorporate concepts of Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you reclaim your sense of self and find wholeness. The answers are within you. I'll help you access your inner wisdom. With my approach, you will learn to explain (without excusing) what has contributed to your current reality. You will learn how to accept your current reality in order to step toward a better version of life. My approach is exceptionally relational, so you will feel my support and guidance every step of the way. You'll even enjoy it!

I have an extensive background in supporting adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety and depression, survivors of trauma including complex trauma (a type of distress that develops from an upbringing in a dysfunctional family), as well as individuals battling addiction. I received my Master’s in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley, and am also an alumnus of Carleton College and the University of Chile. Additionally, I have obtained a Certificate in Clinical Trauma Professional Level II (CCTP-II). I am bilingual in Spanish.

I utilize a modality that synthesizes key concepts from the trauma modalities of Dialectal Behavior Therapy and Internal Family Systems. It's how I was able to heal, and it's a framework that I refer to as needed with my clients. In my book, Complex PTSD: Follow My Map To Healing, I share my personal lived experience with Complex PTSD. I had to work very hard to find my way out of the darkness of shame, addiction, isolation, and fear. Now that I have my own synthesized approach, my clients at Let The Light In Therapy are finding their own path out of the despair of C-PTSD. One foundational concept that I incorporate in my work is to explore traumatic invalidation and how this can lead to untrue negative core beliefs of self that can severely impact one's sense of self. We form our identities in childhood, and if we received harmful messages, like we are always causing problems or our needs are too much, this can lead to the creation of core concepts about our self-worth. By examining how we were shaped by the way we were treated as children, we can create a new reality for ourselves where our actions and values are in alignment. This is how we break free from trauma.

I have an online clinical practice called Let The Light In Therapy. I welcome connecting with you!

Our Core Belief

Complex PTSD is a predictable set of adaptations to chronic traumatic invalidation and internalized negative beliefs of self.
